Questions and Answers
Which celebrities you believe are the most influential on your work?
It has changed a lot
since I started grime because when i started i used mainly Stormzy for my
inspiration, however now I use artists like JME and Section Boys. The reason
why i use these artists is because they have a hidden meaning in their songs
and that’s what i want in my songs.
Who is your role model in the grime industry?
I have two or three
role models in the grime industry. My first role model is Lady Leshurr because
she is one of the most famous female grime artist in a heavily male dominated
music genre. My second role model is Stormzy as he is the most well-known grime
artist and my goal is to be as well-known as him. Finally my third role model
is Dave as he is one of the hardest working artists in the grime industry and
that’s what i want to be.
What projects are you currently working on?
I can’t really say but fans can be
really excited of what is going to be released in the coming weeks.
What do you do when not working?
I never really stop thinking of
new lyrics because sometimes the best lyrics are made in the strangest of
places. For example i was on a train going to London when i thought or a couple
of lyrics to Wanna Know. However to relax i play fifa 17 on my PS4 and when
Aston Villa play at home i go watch the match and sometimes away games.
Where do you think you will be in 5 years?
Hopefully if i stay on track i can
imagine myself growing my fan base and collaborating with artists like JME and
Section Boyz which would be a dream come true. Also, i would like to perform at
Glastonbury and Vest as i remember going last year and the atmosphere was
great.
How has stardom change you?
Stardom has changed me a lot
because when i started i was not very popular at school or in general, but know
everywhere i go i get approached for mainly photos which is why i now have a
body guard just for safety. When became famous i was cocky and disrespectful to
people who was not as fortunate as me but know i am humble and i am the same
person when i was before his fame.
How do you balance you work and private life’s?
It is hard to balance my work from
my life because the music is very competitive and i want to do better and grow
my fan base. Even though I still think of new lyrics on a Saturday and Sunday i
try to enjoy myself as much as possible by doing things i enjoy like football.
What do you love and hate about your job?
The main thing i love about being
a music artist is being able to make money off what started as my hobby.
Another thing i love about my job is being able to work as many hours as i want
a day so i have time to learn new skills. However if there was a down side to
my job it’s not being able to meet my friends as often as i used to because
when they don’t have work it’s normally a weekend when my meetings are.
What are the three things you cant
live without?
This is a very hard question but
my three things i can`t live. My first thing is my notepad because i take it
everywhere and is where i record some lyrics that i make when I’m out the
studio. My second thing is the internet as it’s where i can listen to new songs
which can inspire me on my songs. My third thing is a football as i play it
alot and i use football to stay in touch with my old friends.
What’s your motto that you follow?
I don’t really have a motto but if
i had to have one it would be “if you can dream it you can do it”. This motto i
can directly connect with as i remember when i was a teenager and dreaming of
doing music for a job, people were saying i could not do it. Any with me just
believing in myself i have accomplished my dream.
What is your favourite song?
Currently my favourite song is
Samantha by Dave because it has a hidden meaning and i can relate to it.
However, my second favourite song would be Dig Dat by Section Boyz because i
like the lyrics and beat used in the song.
Do you ever get nervous when a song is released and when you are on stage?
I get very nervous when i release
a song because the song is ultimately assessed by my fans and even if i spend a
lot of time on a song but my fans don’t like it it looks like a waste of time.
I also get nervous when on stage because i feel i need to perform at my best
because fans queue for a long time and therefore i feel that i need to make it
worth their time. However, normally after my first song i perform and i see
fans are enjoying my performance so far i don’t get nervous.
