Question 3
What kind of media
institution might distribute your media product and why?
The institution I would let
publish Ghrime magazine is Bauer Media Group which is a large German publishing
company that operates in 15 countries including the UK. The main reason why I
have chosen this institution rather than Emap or IPC is because of the
magazines it already publishes for that include Q and KERRANG, that are very
successful in the music magazine industry. I believe my magazine is similar to
Q magazine as even though they are classed as men’s magazines lots of female
consumers read their magazine. As the grime industry it is very male dominated
and so even though my target audience is for both genders is does not stop
female consumers from reading Ghrime. Another, reason why I believe Bauer Media
Group is the best publisher for Ghrime is because it is a multi-media platform
so it can use radio for example to help promote my magazine to gain popularity
and receives a bigger brand identity. Too started with I want my magazine to be
published by print and online as that’s the platform which is growing the most.
Even though prints are decreasing in popularity because of online being even
more easy to access and being more convenient to consumers. When the brand
identity of Ghrime becomes a well-known magazine I will start an app which will
be a more convenient to consumers and will cost nothing but will have in app
advertising that will generate income to Ghrime.

Double spread creation process
The first stage was importing my edited image on to sketch.
I then added a black banner to the top of the page which had the text "ghrime exclusive; interview with Nathan Richards" in the colour white.
For my third stage of development i added the artists name "Nathan Richards" and the pull quote from his story "i'm one of a kind". I positioned the masthead and the pull quote on three lines and looks like their is a slanted line where the lines begin.
From my research i wanted to include was some text that talked about what the page was about. So i positioned this, just under the pull quote on the left hand side of the page. I also used a bigger font size compared with the other text as i wanted it to stand out more, so that it'll be read before the main text.
I then added my main text which is put into two columns as it makes it look more professional and other music magazines like NME use this layout for their text.
When i put my main text onto the page i left some space where i could put my second pull quote. In this stage i added the pull quote of "i can't wait, i'm so excited" which then fills the remaining space on the page.
My last thing i wanted to add from my research on music magazines was page numbers. This followed the conventions of double page spreads because i placed my page numbers at the bottom left and right of the double page spread where their is no text around it, which then makes it stand out more for the reader.
When self reflecting on my double page spread i felt that the image let down the page. I then edited my image even more by reducing the hue saturation of the image as their was too much yellow in the image. This improved my double page spread alot because it now looks more brighter therefore making it more attractive for a reader to read the article.

Questions and Answers
Which celebrities you believe are the most influential on your work?
It has changed a lot
since I started grime because when i started i used mainly Stormzy for my
inspiration, however now I use artists like JME and Section Boys. The reason
why i use these artists is because they have a hidden meaning in their songs
and that’s what i want in my songs.
Who is your role model in the grime industry?
I have two or three
role models in the grime industry. My first role model is Lady Leshurr because
she is one of the most famous female grime artist in a heavily male dominated
music genre. My second role model is Stormzy as he is the most well-known grime
artist and my goal is to be as well-known as him. Finally my third role model
is Dave as he is one of the hardest working artists in the grime industry and
that’s what i want to be.
What projects are you currently working on?
I can’t really say but fans can be
really excited of what is going to be released in the coming weeks.
What do you do when not working?
I never really stop thinking of
new lyrics because sometimes the best lyrics are made in the strangest of
places. For example i was on a train going to London when i thought or a couple
of lyrics to Wanna Know. However to relax i play fifa 17 on my PS4 and when
Aston Villa play at home i go watch the match and sometimes away games.
Where do you think you will be in 5 years?
Hopefully if i stay on track i can
imagine myself growing my fan base and collaborating with artists like JME and
Section Boyz which would be a dream come true. Also, i would like to perform at
Glastonbury and Vest as i remember going last year and the atmosphere was
great.
How has stardom change you?
Stardom has changed me a lot
because when i started i was not very popular at school or in general, but know
everywhere i go i get approached for mainly photos which is why i now have a
body guard just for safety. When became famous i was cocky and disrespectful to
people who was not as fortunate as me but know i am humble and i am the same
person when i was before his fame.
How do you balance you work and private life’s?
It is hard to balance my work from
my life because the music is very competitive and i want to do better and grow
my fan base. Even though I still think of new lyrics on a Saturday and Sunday i
try to enjoy myself as much as possible by doing things i enjoy like football.
What do you love and hate about your job?
The main thing i love about being
a music artist is being able to make money off what started as my hobby.
Another thing i love about my job is being able to work as many hours as i want
a day so i have time to learn new skills. However if there was a down side to
my job it’s not being able to meet my friends as often as i used to because
when they don’t have work it’s normally a weekend when my meetings are.
What are the three things you cant
live without?
This is a very hard question but
my three things i can`t live. My first thing is my notepad because i take it
everywhere and is where i record some lyrics that i make when I’m out the
studio. My second thing is the internet as it’s where i can listen to new songs
which can inspire me on my songs. My third thing is a football as i play it
alot and i use football to stay in touch with my old friends.
What’s your motto that you follow?
I don’t really have a motto but if
i had to have one it would be “if you can dream it you can do it”. This motto i
can directly connect with as i remember when i was a teenager and dreaming of
doing music for a job, people were saying i could not do it. Any with me just
believing in myself i have accomplished my dream.
What is your favourite song?
Currently my favourite song is
Samantha by Dave because it has a hidden meaning and i can relate to it.
However, my second favourite song would be Dig Dat by Section Boyz because i
like the lyrics and beat used in the song.
Do you ever get nervous when a song is released and when you are on stage?
I get very nervous when i release
a song because the song is ultimately assessed by my fans and even if i spend a
lot of time on a song but my fans don’t like it it looks like a waste of time.
I also get nervous when on stage because i feel i need to perform at my best
because fans queue for a long time and therefore i feel that i need to make it
worth their time. However, normally after my first song i perform and i see
fans are enjoying my performance so far i don’t get nervous.
final contents page creation process
The first stage involved creating a black strip to place at the top of the page and then the white masthead on top of it so that it stands out to the reader and therefore is the first thing the reader looks at on the page.
The second stage was adding the min image. Which was of Rico who is also the main cover line on the contents page, this is important as makes everything relevant in my magazine. To edit this i used photo shop to enhance the lighting of the photo and therefore makes the contents page lighter, this is important as it can be easy for magazines to look dull with having the colour dark so much but by making my magazine as a whole lighter gives gives a more positive tone to the magazine which i said i was going to do in my target audience post as i wanted to challenge stereotypes of having no hop. However by having a lighter magazine symbolises hope so therefore challenges the stereotypes.
I then added the main cover line which was about Rico. In the whole block of text i have used different size fonts for different reasons. The first reason was that "Rico" is more important as thats what the article is about and so should be in a bigger size font to stand out o the reader. The second reason was that all the text fit into one block which makes it look more professional and shows time spent on the creation of the magazine.
In the fourth step i added boarders which text on the magazine fits into, this is important as it separates text so readers are less likely to read text that they do not want to read. The second thing i added in this step was adding the editors section of text, which highlights pages in the magazine that readers may want to read.
